Promotion and Tenure guidelines for the College of Public Health and Health Professions
Two of the most important types of decisions made in the University are those having to do with promotion and tenure. They are the principal means by which the quality of the institution is maintained and developed (UF Regulation 7.019). The Promotion and Tenure process of the University of Florida operates in conjunction with the fiscal year. Eligible faculty members should begin the process no later than July 1 of each year (see Promotion and Tenure timeline). The University of Florida guidelines, the College of Public Health and Health Professions (PHHP) guidelines, and for the two shared governance departments (Epidemiology and Biostatistics), the PHHP/COM guidelines are all detailed in the documents found on this site. All applications for promotion and/or tenure at UF will be processed in the Faculty Excellence and Advancement (FEA) system.
The application template is in the new FEA system and is expected to be available in spring of each year. Your web browser should be set to allow pop-ups. Note: the template will open as a Word file, with some sections auto-populated with the candidate’s information.
For questions or more information, contact Lorie Martin, Director of Human Resources for PHHP.

Mid-cycle review
Mid-Cycle reviews (also referred to as Mid-Career reviews) provide structured and constructive information to assist candidates with meeting college and university requirements for promotion and/or tenure. Faculty, both tenure-track and non-tenure accruing, are expected to participate in the mid-career review process toward the end of their third and sixth academic year of service. The only exception to this expectation is for non-tenure track faculty in the Departments of Epidemiology and Biostatistics, which requires one mid-cycle review at the end of their fourth academic year of service.
